Why Partner With Attori Law
Built for international clients
We work in English every day, with people who understand how confusing Thai law can look from the outside. Nothing is lost in translation and nothing is left unexplained.
Legal, tax, accounting and immigration under one roof
Most matters do not stay neatly in one box. A company registration touches tax, a work permit touches payroll. Handling it all in-house means fewer gaps and no chasing three separate providers.
Thai-qualified lawyers, international standards
Our legal team is licensed in Thailand and led by lawyers with years of experience advising international businesses. You get local authority with the responsiveness you would expect at home.
Commercial advice, not just legal theory
We tell you what is possible, what it will cost and what the practical risk is. If a plan will not work, we say so early rather than billing you to find out.
Clear scope and clear fees
You know what is included, what it costs and who is doing the work before we start. No open-ended hourly surprises.
Continuity from start to finish
The person you speak to at the outset stays with your matter. You are not handed to a junior after the first meeting, and you can reach us when something needs a decision quickly.
Common Mistakes When Recovering Debt

-
Waiting too long to act
The longer you wait, the harder it becomes to gather evidence, and the closer you get to the prescription period expiring, which can run as short as 2 years depending on the claim.
-
Not keeping proper documentation from the start
Contracts, invoices, and correspondence build your case. Without them, even a legitimate debt becomes difficult to prove.
-
Contacting the debtor in ways that break collection rules
Thailand's Debt Collection Act restricts how and when a debtor can be contacted. Getting this wrong can expose you to fines, or worse, while you're trying to recover your own money.
-
Letting a verbal promise to pay go undocumented
A written acknowledgment or partial payment from the debtor resets the prescription clock. A verbal promise with no record does nothing for you legally.
-
Pursuing legal action without checking if the debtor has recoverable assets
Winning a judgment against someone with no assets, or who has left the country, is an expensive way to end up with nothing.

FAQs
How long does debt recovery typically take?
It depends heavily on the debtor's responsiveness. Direct negotiation can resolve a matter in weeks. If it proceeds to litigation and enforcement, it typically takes considerably longer, often many months.
Is there a time limit for pursuing a debt in Thailand?
Yes, but the exact period varies by claim type, commonly between 2 and 10 years under the Civil and Commercial Code. A written acknowledgment or partial payment from the debtor resets the clock, and once you have a court judgment, that judgment itself remains enforceable for 10 years. We'll confirm which period applies to your specific situation.
Do I need to go to court to recover my debt?
Not always. Many debts are resolved through direct negotiation or formal demand letters before litigation becomes necessary. Court action is typically pursued when the debtor is unresponsive or disputes the debt.
What if the debtor still doesn't pay after a court order?
A judgment alone doesn't collect the debt, enforcement is a separate stage. We can pursue enforcement through the Legal Execution Department, which can seize the debtor's assets, bank accounts, or property to satisfy the judgment.
What documentation do I need to start the process?
Contracts, invoices, payment records, and any correspondence with the debtor. The more organized this documentation is, the stronger your position, both in negotiation and, if needed, in court.
Are there rules about how a debt can be collected?
Yes. Thailand's Debt Collection Act regulates how and when a debtor can be contacted, and by whom. We collect within these rules, both to protect you from liability and because compliant collection tends to be more effective.
