Thailand’s Visa-Exempt Expected to Be Reduced to 30 Days.

Thailand is set to reduce its visa-free stay period from 60 days to 30 days as authorities work to prevent potential misuse of the visa exemption program. The adjustment, which has been agreed upon in principle, is aimed at addressing concerns related to unauthorized business activities operating under the extended visa-free stay.

Since July 2024, Thailand has allowed passport holders from 93 countries to enter the country for up to 60 days without a visa. However, this extended stay has raised concerns within the tourism sector, as the majority of international visitors do not require such a long period. Long-haul travelers typically spend 14-21 days in Thailand, while regional visitors tend to stay for about a week.

While this move aims to curb potential visa misuse, it is unlikely to affect genuine tourists who generally do not require a 60-day stay. However, it may impact those who need a longer stay but do not necessarily want to apply for a long-term visa.

If you are planning to visit or stay in Thailand for an extended period, it’s important to stay informed about the latest visa regulations.
