Restaurant License Thailand
To legally operate a restaurant in Thailand, you must obtain a Restaurant License under the Public Health Act. Restaurant licenses in Thailand are valid for one year and must be renewed annually. Operating without a valid license can lead to fines or imprisonment under various regulations. Additionally, if the license is not collected within 15 days of approval, it may be canceled. The specific requirements depend on the size of your establishment:
Restaurants under 200 sqm: Must submit a Certificate of Notification to the local authorities.
Restaurants over 200 sqm: Require a Food License from the municipality or district office.
Requirements For Thai Food License
The Thai Restaurant License permits the operation of a restaurant and the serving of food. With this license, no additional food license is required. However, if your restaurant offers other services or activities, additional licenses may be necessary. In addition to the requirements below, Thai staff must complete a hygiene and safety test at the district office, with at least 40/50 correct answers required to pass. A medical certificate is also mandatory before the license is issued.
